Shanghai Tourism Festival Organising Committee invited Aotearoa to be part of the 2024 Shanghai Tourism Festival, including participation in the grand parade opening ceremony and several performances.
Haka performers from Angitu and Te Iti Kahurangi represented Te Matatini and Aotearoa at the Festival although some of their scheduled performances were cancelled due to an approaching typhoon.
Internationally kapa haka plays a significant role in promoting Aotearoa as a nation deeply rooted in its indigenous heritage and supporting international relations. Through kapa haka we share our uniqueness as Māori to the rest of the world.
