In light of the Government’s COVID-19 announcement to remove all outdoor event gathering limits from Friday 25 March, Te Matatini is delighted to announce that the new dates for Te Matatini Herenga Waka Herenga Tangata National Kapa Haka Festival 2023, to take place at Ngā Ana Wai (Eden Park) in Tāmaki Makaurau are:
• Pōhiri: Tuesday 21st February 2023 • Competition Days: Wednesday 22nd - Friday 24th February 2023 • Te Matangirua (Finals Day): Saturday 25th February 2023
“We’d like to acknowledge and thank our kapa haka community, sponsors, strategic partners, hau kāinga and all those involved in organising the festival, who continue to work hard to stage a world-class event in 2023,” says Chairman, Mr Selwyn Parata.

EDITORS NOTES
On Tuesday 22 March 2022, the Government announced some key changes to the COVID-19 Protection Framework. For all the updated details and information relating to these new changes and when they will be implemented, please visit the official New Zealand COVID-19 website and Life at Red.
In addition to the removal of all capacity limits for outdoor events and gatherings, the Government also announced that there will be no requirement to use My Vaccine Passes from 4 April 2022.
Government vaccine mandates for some workers will also be removed. The workers still covered by government vaccine mandates include health and disability sector workers, prison staff, and border and MIQ workers.
