Updated: Oct 14

Te Matatini Festival 2023 winners, were part of the 100 artists and performers representing Aotearoa at the Festival of Pacific Arts (FestPAC) giving audience members an unforgettable experience.

Since 1972 Aotearoa has participated in FestPAC which has become the premiere indigenous arts and culture event in Te Moana Nui a Kiwa bringing together over 2,000 artists and practitioners from 28 Pacific countries and territories.

This year’s FestPAC was held in Honolulu, Hawaii with the theme based on voyaging: "Ho’oulu Lāhui – Regenerating Oceania", promising to restore the spirit of Pacific culture with artists across the Pacific nations.

FestPAC creates a mātauranga space where cultural exchanges and indigenous knowledge, language and traditions are shared through art.

New Zealand’s participation at FestPAC is made possible by Creative NZ and our many indigenous artists including kaihaka.
