Stay minutes from the venue

If you are looking for accommodation close to the festival then we have campsites available for you to pitch your tent or bring your own caravan / campervan / motorhome. Located at the Racecourse you'll be only minutes from Pukekura / Bowl of Brooklands.

  • All campsites are unpowered. There are no powered sites.

  • Groups wishing to camp next to each other should purchase camping tickets in the same zone and arrange to arrive together as you cannot SAVE spots

  • Zones are coloured and you must choose a zone at time of purchase. Refer campsite map for zones. You cannot book a campsite however, so it's best to arrive early and together.

Accessing the Campground

The campground is open from 10am Monday 24 February and you must depart before 11am Sunday 2 March 2025.

Gate A off Rogan Street is the only entrance for all General Campers and Campervans and Motorhomes. Gate entrances will be marked; please ensure you check in at the correct gate (refer map).

To enter the campground you must present your Camping Bundle ticket or wristband to the staff at the campground entrance.

Power in the Campground

Access to power to charge electronic devices is available from the Camp Office and Information Hub. However, campsites do not have power.

Camping + Festival Bundle Ticket

When you purchase a General Camping + Festival Bundle ticket or a Motorhome Camping + Festival Bundle ticket, it comes with two five-day festival passes and six-nights of camping accommodation from Monday 24 February to Saturday 1 March 2025.

The Camping + Festival Bundle packages start from two people and are available for up to six people.

Need to hire a campervan or motorhome?

The campground caters for those who want to pitch a tent and those bringing their own caravan/campervan/motorhome. Te Matatini is not providing tents / caravans / campervans / motorhomes so you must source your own​.

All RVS, motorhomes, caravans, sleepervans, campervans, house buses and trucks are all welcome however all vehicles must not exceed 10 metres in length and 5 metres in width.

There are no facilities onsite to dump your waste from your campervan/motorhome/etc. Dump station locations can be found here - New Plymouth - New Zealand Motor Caravan Association (nzmca.org.nz)(external link)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I park my vehicle next to my tent?

  • NO – due to fire safety regulation, health and safety and space capacity reasons, you will not be allowed to park your vehicle next to your tent.  However, we do have a carpark located nearby for all campers' vehicles.

  • You may be permitted to drive into the zoned area to unload your gear. After you must park your car in the carpark NO Exceptions.

  • NB: Drive on access to unload is subject to the time of your arrival and the safety of other campers. On arrival follow the guidance and instructions of camp staff.

Can I bring food (kai) into the campground?

  • Āe/Yes, you can bring kai (Food) and non-alcoholic drinks into the campground.

  • Food stored in the shared refrigeration facilities are stored at your own risk. Te Matatini and its event organisers accept no responsibility for loss, theft or removal of food in shared facilities.

Are campsites powered

  • Kāo/No. We only offer unpowered campsites.

  • Access to power to charge electronic devices is available in the Camp Office and Information Hub.

  • There are no facilities onsite to charge electric vehicles.

Camping facilities include:

  • Showers and toilets

  • Temporary kitchen

  • Shared refrigeration

  • Information office

You must bring:

  • Your own food

  • Cooking utensils

  • Pots and pans

  • Bowls

  • Plates, cups, cutlery

  • Dishwashing products and tea towels

  • Personal hygiene and washing products and towels​​​​

Power and cooking:

  • The campground does not have individual powered sites, but there is access to power for charging devices

  • When cooking your meals, you must ONLY use the campground kitchen or your own camp stove (pictured below)

  • NO cooking inside of tents

  • NO gas bottles

The Te Matatini campground is a whānau-friendly place with a fun atmosphere. We want to ensure our manuhiri are as safe and comfortable as possible. When you buy your Camping Bundle tickets you are agreeing to abide by our camping code of conduct.

  • The following behaviours: Anti-social, unruly, unsafe or illegal behaviour, disrespectful and/or violent behaviour towards our team or our volunteers will result in you being denied admittance to the campground and/or evicted from the campground. You will not qualify for a refund. Don't spoil it for others. 

  • Noise curfew starts at 10:00pm every night. Failure to adhere to the noise curfew may result in your eviction from the campground. Please be respectful to your fellow campers.

  • We have on-site security present to help protect you when you're in the festival and the campground.

  • ​No alcohol is permitted at the Festival or in the campground

  • No drugs or drug paraphernalia is permitted at the Festival or in the campground

  • Campers must occupy only the purchased site, do not extend into your neighbour's site, that’s just being a hōhā!

  • Attempting to camp anywhere else creates a bad buzz for us and you.

  • During festival hours, we ask that vehicles limit entry and exit in and out of the campsite.

  • All campers are expected to behave in a courteous manner to other campers.

​If you are not adhering to the above, you may be escorted from the campground, and/or our security or Police may be informed.

You cannot bring:

  • ​Large speakers, sound systems

  • ​Animals (except service animals)

  • Compressed gas tanks – helium, nitrous etc

  • Drones or remote-control vehicles or toys

  • Alcohol, drugs or drug paraphernalia 

  • Extra car batteries

  • Flammables – including fireworks.

  • Furniture – sofas, couches, recliners, lazy boy chairs etc

  • Generators

  • Heating appliances

  • Kegs

  • Open flames – candles, campfires, bamboo torches etc

  • Balloons

  • Segways

  • Slip-n-slides

  • Weapons of any kind (including toy ones)

  • ​Campers must by 18+ years OR accompanied by a parent/ caregiver.

  • NO cooking inside tents

  • NO gas bottles

  • NO BBQs​

If you are found with any of these items, entry to the campground will be refused.  The item/s may be confiscated, you may be escorted from the campground and/or our security / the Police may be informed. If you are unclear about an answer, assume the answer is NO and leave it behind.
